Frieda Pinto, Bollywood and Bombay's newest object of envy, has been cast in Woody Allen's forthcoming film alongside Naomi Watts, Josh Brolin and Anthony Hopkins. Pinto had been snapped up by the Los Angeles-based Creative Artists Agency, widely acknowledged as the world's most powerful talent agency representing Hollywood royalty like Nicole Kidman and Bruce Willis, last November. CAA brokered Pinto a fee of an estimated $3 million for the film, on which she will begin work in July.

Its a good sign. Slumbog will help filmmaker's and writers like us to sell film on real issues. Just not like glam film of Yash and Karan Johar films.

:) Honestly speaking,I feel she is just an overhyped below average actress...
I honestly did not see any greatness in the small role she had in the movie.
It was a director's movie all the way!!!
Well for better or worse she got lucky and there's no reason why people should react so badly to it. Check out this churlish article in Tehelka. Why pick on her accent, and her clothes

I don't see why people are dissing her acting. She hasn't gone around claiming she is the best actress in the world. She has been quite candid about her limitations and even said she started going to acting school after the movie.
About her being too 'Westernized', obviously a lot of people don't know much about an average Catholic girl from Bombay???? She seems a lot more grounded than a lot of the girls I knew growing up.
In all of her interviews, she comes across as being articulate and gracious for her opportunities. To me, her detractors are just playing 'sour grapes'.
