For:
1. Not having the guts to go to New Orleans until yesterday.
2. For behaving as though even that was an imposition on his time, which he seems to feel is better spent sucking up to the Saudis and siphoning oil from Iraq. From the NYT:"The president did not interact much with storm victims, and at one site, a Salvation Army truck in Mississippi, those he did see had first been screened by Secret Service agents with metal detectors.Mr. Bush flew back to Washington from New Orleans without paying a visit to the chaotic makeshift trauma center set up in one terminal at the airport, where many patients evacuated from the city's hospitals were dying before they could be airlifted to other cities."
3. For consistently and moronically saying the wrong thing at the wrong time: "Bush sprinkled levity in his remarks at New Orleans' airport at the end of the day. He talked about coming to New Orleans years ago and enjoying himself "occasionally too much." He said he believed the city will recover and "be a better place to come to."
4. For answering the question on everyone's minds with lies of indecent proportion: "Throughout his day, Mr. Bush did not address the shocking images of the desperate and dying on television, even when he was asked by a reporter in Biloxi "why the richest nation on earth can't get food and water to those people that need it." Mr. Bush sidestepped the question and responded that helicopters had rescued people from rooftops and "thousands of peoples' lives have been saved immediately, and that's good news."
5. For giving us ample reason to wonder: "Maybe the response would have been quicker if it had occurred in some other area of the country, for example in New York or California where there's more money, more people who are going to object, raise their voices."
and
"The difference between those who lived and those who died" amounted to "nothing more than poverty, age or skin color."
